10 Ways To Elevate A Stay At A Prestige Hotel

It’s my birthday this week and I will be packing up to take a long weekend trip to Asheville to celebrate and while I am there we will be staying at the property’s prestige hotel, The Inn at Biltmore. We also have a trip coming in June to Washington D.C. where we will also have another high-end hotel booked for the trip. While being at a prestige level hotel is in and of itself a luxurious experience, there are some things that can be done that will elevate the overall visit too. To step into one of these hotels is to step into a space of elegance and refinement and energetically it is inspiring to also be the kind of person who is at ease in this environment. Creating an exceptional experience while traveling to an elite hotel starts with meticulous intention as well as attention to the details and below are 10 ways to elevate a stay at a prestige hotel to get you started.

  • Unpack Your Suitcase Within Two Hours of Arrival

There is simply nothing elegant about living out of a suitcase while traveling. If one finds themselves in a hotel for one night only, that may be more suitable for not unpacking. Anything more than that deserves intention and attention to detail. Unpack your clothes and hang them up in the closet. Use the drawer space to unpack the extras such as lingerie, undershirts, scarves, etc. Unpack the shoes and line them up neatly. Unpack your toiletries and display them beautifully. When traveling regardless of accommodation, always take the time to unpack and organize your environment for the time you are visiting.

  • Pack Proper Sleepwear

If you booked a stay at luxurious hotel then you are going to want to align to your highest self and what you sleep in is just as important as what you are wearing during the trip too. It would feel incongruent to be in a beautiful hotel room surrounded by luxury and then put on an oversized t-shirt to sleep in. Invest in proper sleepwear (even on a budget) and be sure to pack a beautiful set or two (depending on how long you are staying).

  • Keep The Room Tidy

Just because a hotel room is a temporary space does not mean that one should relax their standards while traveling. Regardless of what kind of accommodation, keep the space tidy at all times just like you would at home. Put things back where they belong after use, keep all dirty clothes in a bag, rehang clothes you plan to use again, make your bed or let the cleaning staff tend to it, keep chargers and cords stored away during the day, keep towels hung up or set aside to one corner for the cleaning staff to gather, throw away trash in the receptacles, and clean up any messes from food and drink. Tidiness will always be an element of sophistication and this element should not be relaxed during travel.

  • Always Wear The Robe

I have yet to visit a prestige hotel that did not provide a robe and I always make good use of it too. One is simply at ease while in a robe and luxury is all about ease. Some opportunities to wear a robe while traveling is in the morning while relaxing and/or enjoying a coffee or tea in the room, before or after a shower, at night after you have undressed for the day, or even during the day if you are relaxing in the room. A robe is a simple detail that makes a stay at a high-end hotel simply feel a touch more glamorous.

  • Bring Beauty Products Tailored For The Environment

Understand the destination that you are visiting and tailor your beauty products to the environment. What I pack for Costa Rica will not be the same as what I pack for New York. If I am going to a beach or tropical like environment I would pack products from the Ouai St. Bart’s line which has notes of dragon fruit, orange blossom, tuberose & musk as well as their detox shampoo for days at the beach and pool to help deep clean my hair from sunscreen and sweat. In New York I would pack products from the Ouai’s Melrose Place line which has a velvety-rich rose scent infused with a blend of bergamot, lychee, white musk, and champagne. Ouai is one of my favorite beauty brands to use and so when traveling I make sure to tailor the beauty products to the environment to enhance my stay.

  • Book A Unique Expereince

Every high-end hotel has some kind of unique experience that can be enjoyed while staying at the property. It could be an afternoon tea, a reserved pool cabana, a chocolate and wine tasting, a champagne and caviar bar, a private tour, a tasting menu, a horseback trail ride, live music, cocktail hour, etc. This caliber of hotel will always have a unique experience to enjoy, so inquire about what they offer and book an experience that will elevate your stay.

  • Book A Spa Service

Almost all prestige hotels has a spa that offers everything from facials, massages, mani/pedi’s, and body scrubs and/or wraps (to name a few). If you find that you have some downtime, why not book a spa treatment? It’s a luxurious experience to not only get pampered, but to also do so in a highly elevated environment.

  • Enjoy An Elevated Dinner

Another amenity to take advantage of while visiting is booking a dinner at the hotel. Most luxury hotels have a restaurant on site and one that is usually also more fine dining in manner too. Book at least one dinner and dress up to enjoy an elegant evening of culinary delights.

  • Use the Concierge Like an Insider

Luxury hotel concierges can unlock experiences that travelers may miss. Hard to get restaurant reservations, private tours, tickets to sold out events, and local hidden gems are just some of the things that a good concierge can help with. They can often access things not available online and are a great resource to utilize while visiting.

  • Enjoy Turndown Service When Available

Even if you’re a “do not disturb” kind of person during the day, utilizing turndown service is a small luxurious touch that can end each evening with a delight. When going out to dinner each night be sure to remove the “do not disturb” sign and when you come back you will find the bed linens turned down professionally, the room given a quick tidy, amenities refreshed, the lights on low, and a little sweet treat to end the evening. This is a free service and well worth having to elevate the stay at any luxury hotel.

  1. Happy birthday Katie, I hope you have a wonderful trip. Thanks for your tips! I love tailoring your skincare to the place. It’s always fun to pack lovely body products, a sort of capsule collection, and choose a signature fragrance for the trip when I go away.

    1. Thank you for the birthday wishes, Fiona 🙂 I love the idea of a capsule beauty collection, that’s a great way to describe it. We often curate our wardrobes to the environment we are visiting but often forget about the beauty products. It’s also nice to put on the same scented lotion and perfume when you’re back home and be reminded of the lovely experience of traveling too.
