Asheville remains one of my favorite places to visit not only in North Carolina, but even amongst all the other places that I have been before too. A quaint town tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains that is full of charm, history, and beauty, Asheville has always been a place I return to. That is why the husband and I took a weekend trip back in September to enjoy a small elegant escape. When we are in Asheville it’s always a time to move a little slower, to just sit and linger in the beauty of nature, and to savor all that Biltmore Estate and Antler Hill Village has to offer. We stayed at the Village Hotel which is one of the Biltmore’s hotels and enjoyed the beautiful views from our room and we also enjoyed having Antler Hill Village right at our doorstep.

The first day we arrived we checked into our hotel, unpacked our weekend bag and got settled. The Village Hotel is a lovely place to visit and I always enjoy their cozy luxury environment.

After we got settled we went to Downtown Asheville and walked around. The weather was nice and some of the leaves were even starting to change colors.

We stopped into my favorite antique store, Lexington Park Antiques to peruse and then went over to French Broad Chocolate Lounge to enjoy a coffee and small box of chocolate truffles.

That night we we had dinner in Antler Hill Village and visited the shops and little gardens throughout. I was happy to see that they still had the exsquisite Chihuly piece in their winery too.

The next day we went over to Biltmore Estate and walked around the gardens and shops. We didn’t visit the house as this was just a trip to leisurely meander. We enjoyed just walking around in the early autumn weather and getting fresh air and visiting beautiful places.

While the trip to Asheville was a quick one, it was also a delightful one where we savored beautiful meals, visited elegant gardens, and perused many lovely shops. We have at least two more trips planned for Asheville in 2026 and I am looking forward to visiting the place that elevates both my environment and my mindset.

I love Asheville too! During three summers when I was in college I worked as a counselor at a camp in Hendersonville, about 30 miles from Asheville. On our days off we would get a hotel in Asheville and wander around the shops and galleries, restaurants and bars. I still have a beautiful silver ring I bought from a shop in Asheville!
Have you explored Brevard? It’s nearby and such a cute little artsy town with a lot of good outdoor opportunities and some great restaurants!
I have not been to Brevard (yet)! There are so many beautiful mountain towns in NC and I will have to put this one on my list to visit too. So far we visit mostly Asheville or Blowing Rock, but I know there are so many others worth a seeing too.
