Oceanfront Elegance: A Week of Luxury in Costa Rica

When we booked a trip to Costa Rica back in November we had no idea that the winter here in Raleigh would be colder than normal, so we were grateful that we had made the decision to take a summer-like vacation back in the fall. While it was nice to enjoy a few days of warm weather, constant sunshine, and oceanfront breezes, I also had so many epiphanies about my own life and lifestyle that I will be sharing on Wednesday’s blog post.

But for today, I will be sharing the many golden hours, ocean breezes, and luxurious moments we savored during our travel. The days moved slowly, the meals were decadent, and the views were pure enchantment. Here is a recap of our week of luxury in Costa Rica.

The room that we got a was corner suite with beautiful views of the forest. It was a 2-room suite with a relaxing balcony. We really enjoyed having an outdoor space that we visited every morning after breakfast until it was time to either go to the pool to relax and have lunch or go to the spa.

The first night we got in we went to our room and unpacked our things and then went straight to our reservation for an early dinner. We relaxed and watched the sunset and then walked around the resort to enjoy the luxurious surroundings.

The next morning after we woke up we went to an early breakfast. The resort has three restaurants on site (plus room service) and all of them are al fresco and open air which I very much enjoyed. Even though we ate breakfast at the same restaurant every morning, the food was so good and they had plenty of variety that I never got tired of it, on the contrary I was looking forward to it every morning. We would also have daily visits from the many local birds of the area too.

After breakfast we would order a latte to-go and walk back to the room and sit on the balcony for a few hours. We would do this daily as we would wake up and be at breakfast by 6:30 a.m., so it gave us plenty of time to enjoy our room in between breakfast and afternoon leisure. We would put on our Costa Rica playlist and either chat with each other or read.

Around 12:30 we got ready to go to the pool as we had a private cabana reserved for the afternoon. The cabana came with welcome drinks, reserved pool chairs, and a private attendee to take our orders and deliver food and drinks. The resort has four pools in total and we reserved the cabana at the adults-only pool.

We ordered lunch and enjoyed it in the cabana and then ordered a drink to enjoy by the pool. We ordered a banana-vanilla pina colada which was sweet and refreshing. We spent the rest of the afternoon lounging in the pool chairs, reading, and taking leisurely swims in the pool.

After the pool we walked back to the room, relaxed a little, and then got ready for dinner. That night we did the fine-dining restaurant and it was so good that we went back on our last night too. The food was exquisite and they had a lobster ravioli that I am still dreaming about. The restaurant had beautiful views and we got to savor watching the sunset every night too.

The next day after breakfast we had a spa day scheduled for the late morning around 11:00 a.m. After we checked in we got into the cozy robes and enjoyed the facilities for about 45 minutes. He had a massage and I did a one hour deep hydrating facial. The service was relaxing and enriching and afterwards we were served a glass of sparkling wine and dark chocolate strawberries.

It was around 1:00 p.m. when we left the spa, so we went back to the room and got ready to go to the pool again to relax and have lunch.

After a few hours at the pool we went back to the room to relax a bit and then got ready for dinner. Dinner was once again delicious and in a luxurious environment.

On our final day we enjoyed relaxing in bed for a bit and then went to breakfast. Afterwards we took a walk around the resort in the morning to enjoy the gentle ocean breeze and quiet scenery. There were many beautiful spaces that were elevated in their design that incorporated many natural elements with a touch of luxury.

After our walk around we went back to the hotel room to relax with another coffee and then got ready for one last pool day. We enjoyed laying in the sun and taking a few swims as well as one last ocean front lunch too. Since it was the last day we took our time and savored the last moments of the day.

That night was our last dinner and we also got to enjoy one last sunset. Not only was this trip relaxing for us both, but we also decided that we would make an annual trip to Costa Rica every January or February as not only a winter getaway, but also as a reset for the new year as we both enjoyed having space and time to be introspective about our lives back home and how we would want to elevate it in our own way.

  1. It looks so lovely, Katie! I love trips where you can just relax and do what you feel in the moment. Being near water, be it a pool, lake or the ocean is so relaxing as well!

    1. I am such a water lover too and find so much enjoyment being near a body of water 🙂 This was the first trip that I can remember taking where I just relaxed fully at a resort, and now I want to do that every year because it was simply just so luxurious.
