The Roll Top Desk That Made a Perfect Modern Classic Piece for Our Cozy Apartment

I love small, cozy spaces that feel beautiful and purposeful. When we moved into our 900 sq ft apartment back in February 2024, I knew that having a desk would take some thought and consideration. I do work from home on Mondays and Tuesdays, so I did want to incorporate a small workspace into our apartment at some point, and I was able to accomplish this goal just this past April with a small roll top desk.

I was looking for a desk that would be small, but that would look timeless too. After doing some research I did finally purchase this International Caravan Furniture Piece Carved Wood Roll Top Desk although I purchased mine from Amazon at the time. The desk worked well in the corner as it did not take up too much space and gave me just enough room to do the tasks and work from home things that I wanted to do.

I use this space for a few different things including making weekly meal plans, grocery lists, when using my planner, writing out birthday/thank you cards, and working from home.

I keep a few things inside of the desk itself such a small container of pens, hand lotion, my journal, list pads, and some extra matches for candles. The pen holder I got from an antique store a few months prior.

In the top drawers I keep my stationery and stamps in one drawer, bookmarks and extra pens/markers/highlighters in the second drawer, and a spiral mini notebook and matches in the third drawer.

And certainly, one of the best features is simply the view while sitting at the desk doing either work or life admin.

I am a seasonal person through and through, so I also like brining in seasonal touches for the decor to compliment the cozy corner as well as provide an everyday delight for when I work in this space.

While we will most likely will not live in this apartment for many years, and one day the roll top desk may become more of a stationary desk to do more life admin tasks than work from home obligations, for now it is the perfect addition to our cozy apartment and provides the modern classic style that lends itself to the rest of the apartment.

And perhaps the feature I liked the best is the fact that it is a roll top, so after I am done with work or admin, I can simply close it up for a timeless look that also hides away the many objects that lie within.
